Spiritual Direction
““There is only one problem on which all my existence, my peace, my happiness depend: to discover myself in discovering God. If I find Him I will find myself and if I find my true self I will find Him.””
-

What is it?
Christian Spiritual Direction is a practice rooted in the ancient traditions of the Church, where one person—trained in listening and discernment—accompanies another in their journey of deepening relationship with God. Unlike counseling or mentoring, spiritual direction is not about fixing problems or offering advice, but rather about creating a sacred space where the directee can explore how God is present and active in their life. Through prayerful conversation, silence, and reflection, the spiritual director helps the individual notice movements of the Holy Spirit, clarify their sense of calling, and grow in spiritual maturity. At its heart, Christian Spiritual Direction is about helping a person align their life more fully with God's love and purposes.

Getting Started
To get started with Christian Spiritual Direction, begin by prayerfully considering your desire to grow in your relationship with God and seek greater clarity in your spiritual life. From there, you can reach out to a trained spiritual director—often through a church, retreat center, or spiritual direction network—for an initial conversation to see if the relationship feels like a good fit.
