FAQs

1. What makes Aligned Life Counseling Center different from other therapy practices?

At Aligned Life, we bring together clinical expertise and soul care, blending traditional therapeutic modalities with a deep respect for the inner life. Our work is grounded in relational, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed approaches, with added depth from somatic and spiritual perspectives. We believe healing happens in the context of connection—being truly seen, heard, and supported.

2. What kinds of therapy approaches do your clinicians use?

Our therapists are trained in a variety of evidence-based and experiential approaches, including Psychodynamic/Object Relations, Somatic Experiencing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Therapies, Existential Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. We tailor our work to each individual, integrating these modalities to support emotional regulation, insight, and meaningful growth.

3. What can I expect in my first therapy session?

Your first session is a chance to explore your story in a safe, non-judgmental space. We’ll discuss what brings you in, what you’re hoping for, and begin to get to know one another. There’s no pressure to share everything right away—therapy is a process that unfolds at your pace, guided by curiosity, care, and collaboration.

4. Do I have to be religious or spiritual to benefit from therapy at your center?

Not at all. While our founder's journey was influenced by spiritual exploration, our commitment is to meet you wherever you are on your path. We honor the whole person—mind, emotions, body, and for some, spirit. Our goal is to create a supportive space for you to explore your own story, values, and search for meaning in a way that feels authentic to you, whether that includes a spiritual dimension or not. We serve clients from all backgrounds and belief systems.

5. Who do you work with at Aligned Life?

We work with adults, adolescents and children navigating a wide range of challenges—such as grief, trauma, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and identity questions. Many of our clients are seeking deeper self-understanding, emotional healing, or support integrating past experiences into a more grounded, authentic life.

6. What is Somatic Experiencing and how can it help?

Somatic Experiencing is a powerful approach for understanding and healing trauma. It operates on the principle that traumatic experiences can get "stuck" in the body, leading to physical and emotional distress. Rather than just talking about a traumatic event, this therapy helps you gently release that stored energy and stress from your nervous system. It is an effective way to address the physical symptoms of trauma, regulate your emotions, and restore a sense of safety and wholeness.
